PORLAMAR is the largest city on the Island and combined
with PAMPATAR forms a metropolitan area where you will find
all the modern comforts without loosing the flavor of a
tropical island.

over the world at Duty Free prices. Downtown Porlamar is a
picturesque area full of unique stores and street vendors.
The main Market "Conejeros" is an experience full of
surprises with kiosks offering fried fish, Empanadas, Arepas,
Cachapas and all kinds of local dishes with the authentic
flavor of the local people. The ladies that make and sell the
food are always joking and singing making the costumers
feel as if they are part of the scene.
The area between Porlamar and Pampatar is where the major
newer developments are taking place, however, the
coastline of that area is full of other beautiful older buildings
which offer wonderful views of the ocean and small marinas.
This area is the most cosmopolitan area and combines
residential and commercial areas with fine Hotels and
restaurants, which offer, French, Italian, Japanese and other
national dishes as well as local cuisine. There are also small
family owned cafés and "Panaderias" (Bakeries) where you
can relax and enjoy coffee and pastries. For your duty free
shopping convenience, there are malls, such as Rattan Plaza
and Sambil, with boutiques, delicatessens, and all kinds of
stores with products from all over the world. Of course in
those malls you can also find all kinds of food, from some of
the major fast food franchises to the most gourmet type
restaurants.
The areas of Bella Vista, El Morro, Costa Azul all in Porlamar,
and Playa El Angel, Casas del Sol, Paraiso, La Caranta and
Punta Ballena in Pampatar, are among some the better
